26th October - Disappeared
Disappeared for a while. But why, why??? Had a very sound reason, Buddy prepared for the ZTP, and accomplished this weekend. Details soon. But had so many trainings, OMG...
14th October - Toy Story
The "victims" who were kidnapped more than once |
Key learnings: 1. “Quod me non necat me certe confirmat”. (What does not kill me, only makes me stronger), 2. Never be around when they go for a walk. Just flatten yourself to the bottom of the toy box.
13th October - Discrimination
The newly elected city mayor of Budapest is deciding to introduce a new order about dog keeping. Fair enough. He is campaigning for dog rescue center, very positive. He is claiming about removing dog shit from streets, marvellous. But, on the basis of the recommendation of a group of experts, he declares that bigger dogs, like dobermans, rotweilers, pitbulls will be treated more strictly in the new regulation, then other dogs. Because "the children of families with a healthy cast of mind are not cuddling dobermans or rotweilers...". And if he does not represent and protect the will of the majority, that will lead to dictatorship. And finally people will leash Bengali tigers or "dobermans will chase people on the playgrounds." Wow.... I know that dobermans do not have the best image but what will be the result of declarations like this from the 1st person of the city of Hungary??? Some followers will believe what he says and will draw wrong conclusions without knowing the breed....
I found a positive example on the net about campaigning for dobermans in a very civilized, politically correct way. It is a rescue site. Knowing, saying, doing. http://www.gulfcoastdobermanrescue.info/combatting.html

12th October - Dobermann National Working Championship - Summary
Oh dear. The championship is behind us and there were so many family members ill since then that time was consumed for recovery. But briefly, what has happened. We left for the location on the very date of the championship early in the morning. Buddy entered to the working exam I. category, with 6 other dogs. Tahi Reme O'Nara, Fleur Unreacheables, Portonicos di Altobello, Byron von Gini House, Basa von Karpatia and Julie di Modello and Buddy, alias Tahi Reme Eliot. Who was fairly deconcentrated during the last two weeks. A. was afraid that he will be not in a good shape and he was right. Buddy was the 4th in the drawing and when he stepped with A. to the lane, the sun was high on the sky. In order to ensure Buddy full concentration, we hided at the terrace that seemed to be a good idea. First. Buddy started the exercise with A. and seemed to be not knowing where he was. He was looking all around, glazing at the terrace, then back, and out of the 8 minutes of the total exercise one third he was totally disorganized. He did not make a good start and this somehow spoiled the entire performance. Afterwards he did everything well, but as at the beginning he could not impress the judge, that had an effect on the evaluation of his entire performance and led to the 6th place. Overall the day was fantastic. We saw very nice dogs and their owners, big surprises when the top dogs made a mistake, which led to end at the back and also very successfull exercises. We continue with Buddy. At least I will not be there during the exercise not to disturb him. But we spent a beautiful day with him. Our family together, with dobe-lovers on an early-autumn day. Results you can find here.

8th October - Half Bite
Tomorrow we'll go to the Dobermann National Working Championship, and as a preceeding action, tonight Buddy got only half portion of his dinner, advised by his trainer (I suppose in order to sharpen his senses...). So after the regular evening routine, like ball chasing, cuddling the family, stealing the napkin, running to and fro, the dinner time arrived. We took the metal bowl for Buddy and started to pour the dog food, small knocking sounds piece by piece, and suddenly stopped. Exactly 50% earlier, then usual. Buddy calculated, so it means 50% of the food. "Hey, come on, that is not fair!" He ate it at once and started to look for further alternatives, going down the stairs of the basement. Where the Eukanuba bucket is living, out of which some food sometimes fall to the ground. Waiting for him. So, if my papa does not give enough, comes the self-service. "Papa" did not like the idea and ordered the dobi fellow to come back, which he did half-heartedly. Two hours later he woke up and started to moan. I let him out to drink, but no, he attempted to check his Eukanuba bucket again. Because it should be there, for sure:)
3rd Oct 2010 - Dobermann National Working Championship, 9th October, Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary
Buddy entered to the Dobermann National Working Championship with my husband. The championship is 5 days from now, this Saturday in Hungary. There will be three categories, Buddy will participate in the working class I. section, some will do the IPO1. In his category, there will be 5 more dogs, so he should pull himself together for the podium. Cross your fingers for him, please:)

2nd Oct 2010 - World Animal Day
Our dog school had an introduction show in the Wild Park nearby to our place, on the occassion of the World Animal Day. 14 dogs and owners appeared, I was really stunned how many of us came to show what we have learnt so far. Buddy really made the most he can, he participated in all parts, from obedience to jumping through loops and barricades. More pictures and a video will come. The children just loved it. To increase the celebration and show atmosphere, I created for Buddy an orange bow tie which he wore proudly. 25 Sep 2010 - Wool carpet
Today we went to the city-centre of our small town as there was a Sunday market with many sellers, from home-made jams to South-American Alpaka ponchoes. We bought everything we wanted but prior to going home I realized that Buddy did not get anything. Fortunately we came across a capret-seller, who offered hand-made wool and rug carpets at a very fair price. So Buddy and the carpet, that would be perfect match. Buddy hardly realised that we arrived home, as he was napping on the terrace, but later on the happy outburst came as usual. We proudly presented the carpet for him, and he immediately understood that would belong to him, or what. And jumped on it. And within a minute created a large hole on it. Gossh. Much ado about nothing:(
24 Sep, 2010 - Latin Lover
We are preparing for the ZTP exam (German Breeder certificate) in late October. One part of the exam is a so-called "courage test", the dog is belayed to a rod or a tree, left there in a position where cannot see his/her owner. The judge approaches the dog and drops a booklet next to him. The dog shouldn't show any anger, fear or excitement. So Buddy practiced this exercise at the dog school, left alone, and three ladies from the school approached him one by one. Eve went to him, and Buddy suddenly flapped with his tongue and kissed her. Than Ann came, the same happened. Buddy's trainer loughed endlessly and promoted Buddy for further kisses:) I was so proud of him. Buddy, the "wild" doberman is actually a Latin lover.
Sophie was Buddy's first love. Not mutual, but first love is normally hopeless. Sophie is my friend's dog, a mixture of a golden retriever and a Hungarian shepherd type, kuvasz, fairly explosive and obstinate creature. http://www.kuvasz.com/kuvasz/history.htm .Therefore, full of attraction for Buddy. He always jumped on her, from the very beginning, tried to compell to her, he, as being a teenager, attracting the adult woman... And Sophie did not like that at all. For her, Buddy was just a thorn in her flash. And as Buddy did not understand her signs, started to bite him, more and more. Buddy for a while suffered the pain over the bites and the refusal, and at last we decided that these two dogs are not going to party again any more. But yesterday we went to the meadow and who is coming across? Sophie and my friends. We did not want to seem to be rabbits, so let them encounter. Battle or not. And see, Buddy smelled her a while then they started to run to and fro, but Buddy always came back to us after 50 metres to run away again. And he did not harrass her any more, was rather reluctant, like, "okay, I used to be attracted, but for what? I do not remember any more. She is nice to run with, but that's all." His feelings passed away.
18 Sept, 2010 - Facebook
Buddy is on the Facebook. http://hu-hu.facebook.com/people/Doberman-Buddy/100001627441300. You can like him, mark him as a friend, see his pictures, whatever. For me the real shock was to see how many dobes are on the Facebook. And so cute and funny of them, from all over the world. COMPULSORY for DOBE fans.
16 Sep, 2010 - Slider
I am walking down the stairs, with my 4 month-old son in my arms, and a few sacks, for every finger one... I realise that my loving dobe is coming behind me. I step left, close to the banister and leave around 1 m for him. Other dogs might take this nice and polite gesture to get so much attendance, but not Buddy. He presses his body next to my knee and almost sweeping me with his furcoat, marches down the stairs. And if this not would be enough, he stops at the end, turning across, almost blocking the road. Just to create another opportunity for body check.
